Welcome to Nautical Kennels™ "Adrift on A Sea of Schipperkes"™ Nautical Kennels is not a lawyer and does not dispense legal advice but because we get involved
with animal dispute resolution, we often work with lawyers. Please contact Attorney Lloyd D. Cohen at www.lloydcohen.com if you would like more information
about Animal Law.
What is Animal Law?
Animal law is a distinct legal discipline, with its own body of case
law and a growing number of practitioners and academics. The practice of animal law deals primarily with resolving legal issues
and situations in which the nature of animals–including their legal status, behavior or biology–is an important
factor. Although animals themselves typically do not have the right to sue and be sued on their own behalf, legal action can
be filed on behalf of people who care about animals, or who own them, or have suffered harm with them. As a general rule,
if a person or a group of people can show that they have a real and tangible stake in a legal claim involving animals, they
may have their grievances heard in a court of law.
What is our Animal Law focus?
Our focus
is on the needs of our clients involved in an animal conflict before they resort to litigation, believing that the use of
mediation and collaborative methods are the finest means of resolving animal conflicts with the goal of having an atmosphere
in which conflicts over animals can be resolved with minimal pain and suffering for the parties and the animals. - Provide our
clients with the information they need to make an informed decision before they choose to litigate.
- Enabling our clients to understand the benefits
available to them by employing alternative dispute resolution methods at the outset of the conflict.
- Provide this information to enable our clients to pursue a resolution of their conflict armed with the knowledge they
will need to avoid litigation and save time, money and emotional heartache. Strive for a win-win in animal conflicts including:
- Family Conflicts like Divorce, Civil partnership
resolutions, and Estate matters involving surviving pets.

Condo & Neighbors, or Landlord/Tenant, or with Owner, Veterinarian, Groomer, Trainer or Dog walker.

WHAT IS ANIMAL DISPUTE RESOLUTION?
Animal
Dispute Resolution is a process available at the Cohen Law Offices to assist in the resolution of conflict involving humans
and animals. The aim of Animal Dispute Resolution is to arrive at a win-win solution accepted by all parties involved in a
conflict in place of court action. The additional goal is a result that also considers the best interests of the animal or
animals involved. Conflicts may involve one or several humans with one or several animals. Conflicts may also
involve an interdisciplinary dispute between humans whose subject matter is an animal. In addition, the dispute may involve
traditional legal issues but because the subject matter involved is an animal, the parties may feel better facilitated at
a law firm who understands animals.
What
is Animal Law Litigation? When
negotiation is not a solution, litigation is an option and typical types of litigation include:
Cruelty to Pet, or Wrongful Death
— You may have claims if your pet was killed by someone else's animal or harmed by a person's intentional acts. Long Term Pet Protection—

or breakup, or in a jointly owned pet or livestock. Stolen,
Lost, or Seized Pets — There may be legal issues in recovering your missing animal even if you locate it. Dog Bites and Animal Attacks —
Representation is needed if you were bitten or if your animal injured someone else. Veterinary malpractice lawsuits. Vicious
dog representation or prosecution defense. Governmental action. City, Town, State, Agency and Board
Hearings. Rights to keep pets, animals
or livestock within city, town or neighborhood limits Registration
under new OHIO laws! Administrative
challenges to State and federal government regulations. Taxpayers

Debra Cohen's message: With my “Blanket of Schipperkes” here at
Nautical Kennels™ I could never imagine life again without all “my kids” as I affectionately called them.
As I tell people I meet, you have not lived life ~unless you have had the companionship of a Schipperke. My BeLoved Baby Girl “Whim Sea” got her angle wings 11/15/2013 at 12:05 am.
She passed onto Heaven at home in my arms next to my heart as I felt her last two heartbeats. She was looking me in
the eyes showing all of her love, as her last breath crossed over my face. I will never forget this moment in time for
the rest of my life. Whim Sea’s story will soon be in a bookstore near you. Also,Whims’ angle
